George Bernard Price

PRICE WALNUT COVE George “Bernard” Price, 90, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, March 8, 2025, at Summerstone Health and Rehab, with his son, Steve Price and daughter, in law, Vickie Price by his side as he entered Heaven in peace and comfort. Bernard was born on April 25, 1934, in Guilford County to the late Norman and Lucy Price. As a young man, Bernard grew up working on the farm, and hunting and fishing along with his 4 brothers. He then Honorably served our Country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War Conflict. After retiring from Miller Brewing Co., Bernard enjoyed restoring 5 cars and a tractor. He was also an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He started a battle with cancer at 64 years old and beat it. Then again at 80 years old he got cancer again and beat it with the help of his wife and family members, he then developed dementia, which finally got the best of him. He fought hard and would never give up. Bernard will be missed dearly by his son and daughter in law, which he was always supportive with his way of love and kindness. Bernard was the best father a son could have and a devoted husband and father-in-law. He was a leader, not a follower, and always expected perfection. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Modena Lewis Price; and 2 brothers, Warner Price and Gordon Price. Bernard is survived by his son, Stephen Price (Vickie); 2 step grandchildren, Allen Wood (Rachelle) and Adam Wood (April); 4 step great grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Hubert Price and Bud Price. There will be a 2:00 pm funeral service held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Meadows Baptist Church with Pastor Charlie Branch, Rev. Ricky Craig, and Rev. Randy Wall officiating Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 1-2 pm at Meadows Baptist Church.
