James "Tommy" Thomas Fagg Jr.

FAGG WALNUT COVE James Thomas (Tommy) Fagg, Jr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday evening, January 27, 2025, at Kernersville Medical Center. Tommy was born on December 31, 1949, in Forsyth County to the late James Thomas, Sr. and Delorese Shelton Fagg. He was a graduate of South Stokes High School Class of 1969 and Rockingham Community College in 1972. Tommy served six years in the Army National Guard. He was a long-time member of First Christian Church in Walnut Cove where he served as an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, CMF member, as well as holding numerous other positions, such as Chairman of the Board and Chairman of different committees during his time there. As a teen he volunteered in the Walnut Cove Fire Department and was presently in the position of Chairman of the Board. He was employed with R J Reynolds for 34 years and retired in 2007. During his childhood, he was active in The BSA Troop 444. At the age of 15, he received the award of Eagle Scout and was in the Order of the Arrow. For the past several years, Tommy took his grandson to BSA Troop 444 and he attended several Summer Camps with the boys of this Troop. His grandson is currently working on his Eagle Project and is scheduled to finish sometime in the late Spring. Tommy loved his family and God and coached many of his children’s ball teams, did shag dancing with his wife, and had everyone in church every Sunday. He played church league softball for many years and ran the league for a while. He was a lover of the outdoors, a fisherman, and an avid hunter. He also managed a hunting club for several years. Tommy’s life was defined by the love of his family, his many friends, his willingness to help anyone, his dedication to his community, his easy-going nature and his unwavering loyalty and faith. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kallie Reid Fagg; and his brother, Terry Fagg. He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 55 years, Rita Reid Fagg; two children, Christi Holder (Brian) and James Thomas (Jimmy) Fagg, III; two grandchildren, Logan Fagg and Adreanna Holder; sister, Sharon Sands; brother, Mark Fagg (Rhonda); and many special nephews and nieces. There will be a 2:30 pm funeral service held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at First Christian Church of Walnut Cove with Pastor Abby Catoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm at First Christian Church of Walnut Cove and other times at the home.
