John "JP" Pescud Hanes III

HANES III Walnut Cove John Pescud “JP” Hanes III, 47, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday night, September 27, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family after having fought a courageous battle with cancer. John was born on June 20, 1977, in Forsyth County to Lucy Clementine Conrad and John Pescud Hanes, Jr. He was a member of Quaker Gap Baptist Church for many years where he helped with the founding of the still thriving children’s church ministry. John was the best audio/visual guy around. At the age of 14, John became a junior firefighter at Stokes Rockingham Volunteer Fire Department where he served countless hours assisting fellow firefighters with fire and rescue calls in the Pine Hall community. John earned his Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts Troop 426 in Pine Hall. John completed Nurse Aide training in addition to obtaining his EMT. He worked for what was formerly Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital, currently known as LifeBrite Community Hospital of Stokes, where he met his wife, Tiffany. After graduating with a degree in fire science from Forsyth Technical Community College, John began working for the Moses Cone Health System, working in the urgent care in Greensboro, and later the MedCenter emergency room in High Point. In the most critical moments of his career, John was well-known for knowing exactly what to say or do when a patient needed his support the most. John was also a CPR instructor, assisting with Moses Cone Staff Education at work, and teaching classes on his own time with his business, Hanes CPR. Teaching with his business gave him the most joy of his career because he got to share his love for teaching with his daughter, Lauren. John’s faith after a four- and half-year long battle with cancer never once wavered as he took great pride in reminding friends and family that “God’s Got This”. He even wore a pin often as a physical reminder of this for all to see. Above all, John loved his family and was most happy when he was with them. John is preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Clementine Conrad; grandfather, John P. Hanes, Sr. and his father-in-law, William Howard Robertson, Jr. John is survived by his father, John Pescud Hanes, Jr (Vickie), his loving wife, Tiffany Robertson Hanes, two children, Lauren Elizabeth Hanes and John William Hanes, his half sibling, Samuel Lee Moore (Kayla), stepbrother, Benjamin Brian Ore, brother in law, Christopher Andre Robertson (Kim), and his mother in law, Jeanette Schwartz Robertson. A 2:00pm funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Quaker Gap Baptist Church with Pastor Jack Darida officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 6:00pm till 8:00pm at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at their home.
