WILLIAMS WALNUT COVE Johnny went to be with the lord on Thursday April 20, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Johnny Ray Williams was born to James & Edna Williams on Friday January 29, 1943 in Henry County, VA. Johnny went by many names, his favorite was “Pawpaw-Jerk-A-Knot” (given to him by his granddaughter Hailey Faye). Others who knew him called him “Sweet Daddy”, which was very fitting for him. Sweet Daddy was a loving, caring man who would give you the shirt off his back, or the beer out of his hand. Sweet Daddy married the love of his life Linda, on February 24, 1973. They were blessed with 50 wonderful years of marriage, full of love, hard work and dedication. Johnny and Linda created a beautiful family and life together, raising their children, grandchildren, as many stray animals as he could sneak in without Linda noticing. His favorite pastime was sitting on his porch watching traffic with his wife and dogs, drinking an old Milwaukee. He enjoyed working on projects, especially building cars, but mostly sitting and watching the cars rust while drinking a beer talking with friends and family. He retired from Stroh’s after over 40 years of dedication. He was a loving husband, brother, son, grandfather, uncle, and soon to be great-pawpaw Jerk-A-Knot. His newest pride and joy was his soon to be great-grandson Westen Mitchell. Sweet Daddy is preceded in death by his parents James & Edna Williams. He is survived by his very patient & loving wife, Linda Williams; His children Jessica Koch, Brian Williams (Vicki), Todd Williams (Diane), & Chad Williams (Blaire); His grandchildren Lucas, Johnny (Keilay), Emily (Zach), Hailey Faye (Kaleb) & Belle; his siblings, 3 sisters & 1 brother; & pets, 3 dogs & 1 goat. There will be a viewing held at Burroughs Funeral Home on Saturday April 22, 2023 from 6pm – 8pm. The family asks for no visitors at this time or after the service.
