Cecil Lane Shelton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

SHELTON WALNUT COVE Cecil Lane Shelton, 82, went home to be with his Lord Tuesday afternoon, June 7, 2022, at Trellis Supportive Care. Cecil was born on November 2, 1939, in Stokes County to the late Troy and Salone Hennis Shelton. After retiring from the textile industry with 30 years of service, he was the produce manager at Ingles Grocery for 15 years. Cecil served his country proudly in the United States Army. He was a member at Fulp Moravian Church, where he was a member of the band. Cecil loved being outdoors and was an avid gardener, golfer, and woodworker. He was all about his family. In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his mother and father in law, W.W. and Ella Mae Dodson; 5 brothers, Thomas, John, James, P.O., and Clavis Shelton; and his 3 sisters, Avis Bowles, Rachael Dantzler, and Dura Carter. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy Victoria Dodson Shelton; 2 children, William “Kent” Shelton (Cindy) and Leah Cecile Simpson (Robert); 3 grandchildren, Sage Shelton, Ian Simpson, and Natalie Simpson; brother, Chester Shelton (Sandra); special sister and brother in law, Dorothy and Errol Fogg; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a 2:00 pm graveside service held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Fulp Moravian Church Graveyard with Pastor Chuck Harmon officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
