WOOTEN WALNUT COVE Laura Grubbs Wooten, 75, of Walnut Cove went home to be with her Lord Tuesday afternoon, February 9, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center. Laura was born on July 13, 1945 in Stokes County to the late Frank and Elizabeth Cookus Grubbs. She was retired from Sara Lee and was a member of Victory Ministries for Jesus. She loved her dogs, cooking, as well as painting. In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Wayne Wooten; daughter, Angie Amos; and 5 brothers, James, Ralph, Ed, George, and Tom Grubbs. Laura is survived by her son, Michael Amos; a sister, Vicki Wicker; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Prissi. There will be an 11:00 am graveside service held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Walnut Cove Cemetery with Pastor Clayton Smith officiating. Mrs. Wooten will lie in state from 2-5 pm on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Burroughs Funeral Home. Social distancing will be observed and facial coverings are required.
