MANUEL WALNUT COVE Mary Josie Flinchum Manuel, 82, passed away early Friday morning, April 29, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mary was born on April 17, 1940, in Stokes County to the late Pete and Mary Tilley Flinchum. Mary was retired from Mountain Valley Nursing Home with over 27 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith. Mary loved to cook as well as camping and spending time at the beach. Most of all, Mary loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland William “Doc” Manuel, two grandsons, Josh Manuel and Michael Manuel, sister, Bonnie “Tiny” Jerald, and two brothers, Bobby and Steve Flinchum. She is survived by her two children, Dorothy Manuel Hicks and Billy Manuel (Wanda); three grandchildren, Nicky Hicks Payne (Tony), Katie Hicks (Phil), and Jacob Manuel (Haley); six great grandchildren, Ariana Payne, Keegan Manuel, Maddie Manuel, Faith Manuel, Jaxon Manuel, and Liam Manuel; two sisters, Ellen Beck (Terry) and Judy Hicks; brother, Joe Flinchum (Phyllis); and special sister-in-law, Betty Flinchum. There will be a 12:30pm graveside service held on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Isom Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Marion officiating.
