Dr. Tex Mabe

MABE WALNUT COVE Dr. Tex Mabe, 71, passed away on Sunday morning, January 16, 2022 at Forsyth Medical Center. Tex was born on November 4, 1950 in Stokes County to the late Ralph and Nancy Greene Mabe. Tex enjoyed his career as a dentist, where he practiced for 43 years and loved spending countless hours at the dentist office, he was an animal lover, and he enjoyed working on old cars. He was very active in his community, but it was always behind the scenes. In addition to his parents, Tex was preceded in death by his grandmother, Esther Greene and uncle L.T. Greene. He is survived by his loving daughter, Missy Ashburn (Tony), twin brother Tim Mabe (Deborah), sister Ralphine Massie (Dave), and four grandchildren, Jacob, Julie, Andrew and Maddi Ashburn, two nephews, Taylor Mabe and Brook Ammons, one niece, Nicole Ammons, a great nephew on the way and the love of his life for 42 years, Sheila Mabe. There will be a private funeral service held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Burroughs Chapel with Pastor Tony Ashburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Mabe-Greene Family Cemetery. He will lie in state on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Burroughs Funeral Home from 1 pm till 5 pm for anyone wishing to pay their respects. The funeral service will be broadcast live at 2:00 pm Friday January 21, 2022 on the Burroughs Funeral Home Facebook page.
