WILLIAMS WALNUT COVE Jimmy Lee Williams, 93, of Walnut Cove, NC went to be with Jesus on Sunday evening, February 4, 2024, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Jimmy was born on February 20, 1930, in Stokes County to the late John and Martha Stephens Williams. He was the youngest son of 10 siblings. Jimmy grew up in Stokes County and was a member of Stokesburg Methodist Church of Walnut Cove. He was married to Virginia “Jackie” Flinchum. In his early years, he drove a truck for Hennis Freight Line and later, Spector with his brother-in-law, Roy “Pee-Wee” Simmons. Jimmy loved to share trucking stories. Jimmy and his good friend, Harvey Wilson started Wilson-Williams Heating and Air. “Papa” loved his family deeply and he was a friend to everyone. One of his favorite things was fellowshipping at the Olympic Family Restaurant. He loved to fish and looked forward to yearly trips to Davis Island (Cape Lookout). He was a huge Cardinals and Duke fan and rarely missed watching a game. He loved all kinds of music; Merle Haggard and the Eagles were some of his favorites. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. When thinking of Jimmy, he will always be remembered for a constant smiling face, his love for people, his love for his family, his love for good conversation, and how he was always willing to lend a helping hand. In addition to his parent, Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Virginia “Jackie” Flinchum Williams; sisters, Lennice Bowen, Eva Tuttle, Julie Tuttle, Nina Tuttle, Annie Ruth Southern, Pauline Simmons, and Opal Nelson; and his brothers, John Williams, Jr. and Otis Williams. He is survived by his 2 loving daughters, Lynn Williams and Martha Williams Wall (Larry), who cared for him in his final years; 7 grandchildren, Stephen, Bart, Matthew (Amanda), Meredith (Kevin), Amber (Brian), Ashley (Brian), and Lauren (Cole); 16 great grandchildren, Dagan, Myah, Bryce, Dominic, Jakob, Jaxon, Lennox, Jennah, Lexie, Mallory, Miranda, Larsen, Lora, Morrison, Malone, and Coast; godson, Jason Kiger; special nephew, Blaine Williams, whom he shared a special bond with; and numerous other nieces and nephews. There will be a private family service held, however he will lie in state on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at Burroughs Funeral Home. Jimmy always said “I always saw myself as a simple man, not much for a suit and tie. I admired the man who could drive a new Cadillac but drove a 10-year-old truck instead.” As your loved ones life begins to fail with eyes that can no longer clearly see. While breath slowly escapes them and you watch their end of days. Be their voice of reason and advocate for the one who always loved you but now has lost their way.
