CRAINE, JR. KING Early Monday morning, September 8th, 2025, John Craine, Jr., passed away at the age of 63, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC, surrounded by love. John was born on January 12, 1962, in Forsyth County to the late John Thomas Craine, Sr. and Josephine Montgomery Venable. John was a man with a kind heart and a knack for fixing just about anything. If something was broken, you could bet he’d have it running again before you finished saying “it’s broke” — a true master of all trades. He retired after 35 years from Reynolda Electric, 20 of those working alongside his son, Matt. He loved the simple joys in life — attending church at Faith Baptist in Pinnacle NC as his health permitted, weekends at the flea market, watching his grand babies running through his yard, casting a line into the surf at the beach, and soaking in those quiet early mornings by the water. John had a way of making everyone feel at home, whether you were family, a friend, or someone he’d just met. John was welcomed into Heaven by his mother, Josephine Montgomery Venable; father, John Thomas Craine Sr.; brother, Kelly Craine; and mother and father-in-law Dot and Arno Key. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply — his wife, Kelly Craine; son, Matthew Craine (Lyndsay); stepson, Adam Tilley (Jordan); stepdaughter, Amanda Crowder (Greer); and eight grandchildren who were the absolute light of his life: Elijah, James, and Natalie Craine; Wyatt, Luke, and Lacie Tilley; Riley Keen; and Addison Crowder. John’s family and friends will gather for a celebration of life service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Burroughs Chapel in Walnut Cove NC, with Pastor Steven Wriston and Pastor Adam Tilley officiating, to celebrate his life, share stories, and maybe swap a few “John could fix that” tales — because if there was one thing he was known for, it was finding a way to make things work. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home.
