Juanita "Libby" Elizabeth Oakley Hill

HILL WALNUT COVE Mrs. Juanita Elizabeth “Libby” Oakley Hill, 81, ascended into Heaven singing with the Angels on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at her home. Libby was born on May 15, 1943, in Forsyth County to the late George Vance Venable and Wilma Dorise Oakley. Libby’s work life included owning a hair salon, making biscuits at the local restaurants, and working at the hospital in Danbury, where she spent over 30 years working as the switchboard operator. Libby was a member of Palmyra Methodist Church and loved her church family. She was involved in various activities including singing in the choir. Libby enjoyed baking cakes for all events such as Birthdays and Weddings. She also liked to go on shopping trips and was always shopping for someone else (usually Landon). She was very generous and enjoyed being able to give someone something she found for them on her shopping trips, especially her family. Libby loved her family and will leave cherished memories of her smiles and laughter. In addition to her parents, Libby was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Hill; and her son, Lloyd Howard Lawson, Jr.; and her son in law, Bobby Love. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Bassett Love; grandsons, Brandon Love (Kelly), Chris Love, and Justin Love (Megan); great grandchildren, Landon, Kaden, Christopher, Bentley, Tanner, Liam, Camden, and Kaidyn; aunts, Rachel Oakley and her son, Joe, Cheryl Knight (Ronnie), Eva Creasman, and Ann Powell and her daughter, Amy; and numerous friends and other relatives. There will be a 3:00 pm funeral service held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Palmyra Methodist Church with Rev. Alicia Bowman and Rev. Drew Southern officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm at Palmyra Methodist Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the hospice doctors and nurses who showed Libby nothing but compassion and kindness during her illness.
