Kenneth "Al" Alfred Davis

DAVIS WALNUT COVE Kenneth “Al” Alfred Davis, 82, went home to be with his Lord Friday morning, January 31, 2025, at Salemtowne Rehab Center. Al was born on July 14, 1942, in Forsyth County to the late Walter and Mattie “Hazel” McGee Davis. Al served his country proudly in the US Army, earning a Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medal. He was a faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, living all aspects of his life through Christ. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend; loved by all who were blessed to know him. He continued his love of gardening and growing record-breaking pumpkins and watermelons after retiring from RJ Reynolds Tobacco. In his early days, he loved to play baseball and was also recognized for a perfect strike game at Rural Hall Bowling Lanes. Al loved telling the story of obtaining his perfect score of 500 during basic training in the Army, earning a 3-day leave pass. In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Marie Duggins Davis; sisters, Patricia Arrington and Ivy Jones; brother, John Davis; and a daughter, Cathy McGirt. He is survived by his 3 devoted daughters, Wrendy Davis, Laronda Smith, and Lori Thomas; 13 grandchildren, Stephen Andrew Foster, Jr., Lindawren Dormer, Kyen Tonge, Devon Davis, Olivia Smith, Brandon Thomas, Jordan Thomas, Breanna Taylor, Elena Ramires, Sofia Guardian, Chris Perdue, Alex Perdue, and Kenny Perdue; 6 great grandchildren, Jase Thomas, Braelyn Thomas, Jaspen Davis, Asher Taylor, Charlotte Perdue, Olivia Perdue; a brother, Doug Davis, and a son-in-law, Fransisco Hernandez. There will be a 2:00 pm funeral service held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Burroughs Chapel with Bro. Frank Shumate officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory with military honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 5, 2024, from 6-8 pm at Burroughs Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Salemtowne Rehab for the kindness and compassion shown to Al and his family during his stay. Al’s daughters would like to thank his late devoted friend, Kat Edwards, his loyal gardening friend, George Lloyd from Canada, his faithful childhood friend, Walter Bowden, and his beautiful sister-in-law, Jewel Duggins, along with her son, Jamie Duggins for their consistent friendship through conversations and visits during his last months.
